To be fair it IS an Allroad. It just as easily could have been broken down and unable to move.

Install normal A6 springs, fix and/or replace whatever under the hood will need help and drive it as is.

You could park it anywhere without fear.

The vandals just doubled the value of this car. Call it modern art and sell it for big $.

LOL - I used to live nearby, and always parked in that lot when I picked up my dry cleaning. That’s actually a pretty nice neighborhood, believe it or not.

That’s not worth coming back for.

Anyone need a Le Mons car? It already has a theme.

Wicker Park is very nice, it also has a many homeless people and crime due to its proximity to Logan Square and Humboldt Park. My wife and I each used to live in Logan Square and you would see Latin Kings crowns drawn everywhere.

True — Logan Square and Humboldt Park have more crime, but Wicker Park has its share, too. I lived right next the Kennedy, and tried to avoid parking on Ada Street - it was literally next to the Kennedy, and on the path between the Division Street overpass (where a lot of homeless stayed) and St. Stan’s church (where they got food and help, I think). Vandalism/break ins were a daily occurrence if you parked there.

My wife had her car broken into when she lived on Milwaukee Ave. I lived on Kedzie by Armitage and the person who rented me the apartment told me a story about finding a hooker with her throat cut by the garbage cans at that very apartment.

In 8 years, I think I had:

-2 smash and grabs on my cars - which yielded the thief maybe $8 in change, total

- 2 bikes stolen out of my garage (both expensive, too- this was the worst item on this list)

- the OEM wheels from my BMW stolen out of my garage (with good tires)

- my truck keyed (some idiot did the ENTIRE block, I kid you not)

- my BMW’s hood smashed with a large rock

- the BMW’s convertible top slashed (no entry, just slashed)

- My truck backed into on the driver’s side rear door (they left a note at least)

- Too many dents and dings from parking to list.

I think that’s everything - but no violent crime. I don’t think I could deal with finding a dead body.

Thankfully I never had my vehicle broken into when I lived in Chicago, but I did have my catalytic converter stolen when I had it parked in the west loop. Never had any violent crime either thankfully.

Oh yeah, I forgot that the spare tire was stolen from under the Pathfinder, too. I miss the city, but not that part of it.

If you need a car in the city, the best thing to do is to buy a beater, leave it empty, and don’t even lock the doors. There was a guy on my block with a Jeep that he just left the window curtains off of all summer, rain or shine.

I actually had that happen to my Xterra too while it was at a tire shop. They conveniently sold me a new spare, and I couldn’t prove it was actually lost at their shop, but I was under my truck a few days prior, it was there, and then all of a sudden its gone.

Was the carrier destroyed in the process? If not, it probably was the tire shop. After mine was stolen, the dealer wanted $1,000 just to fix the carrier so I’d be *able* to put a spare back there. That was an easy ‘nope’.

The carrier was wrecked. I just bought a rim and a used tire in the same size and fixed the carrier myself.
